                   ROTARACT

Rotaract Worldwide

Rotaract is a worldwide organization of young men and women ages 18-30 who believe they can make a difference. Through local service projects, Rotaractors help to improve the lives of others in their community. As they become more aware of social issues, members develop leadership skills, grow in their professions, and establish a network of friends. Members decide which are their priorities for community service. They then organize related social service projects. These projects allow members to learn about the needs in their community while they contribute valuable volunteer time to needy organizations.

A Brief Look at Rotaract

Rotaract was founded in 1968 by Rotary International, a worldwide association of service minded business and professional groups. Today there are about 6,920 Rotary-sponsored Rotaract Clubs in some 122 countries around the world, with approximately 145,000 members. Clubs are either community or university based.

Becoming Leaders

Rotaract builds leaders and leaders build strong communities with effective solutions to local problems. Each project requires member participation on committees -- all members are encouraged to take leadership roles as projects and presentations are designed for the club. Members are elected to governance positions as well as appointed to chair social and service projects.

How does it work?

All Rotaract efforts begin at the local, grassroots level, with members addressing their communities’ physical and social needs while promoting international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship and service.
